Skywhale Ar

Spring 2018

We developped an AR mode for the already existing 2D platformer Skywhale (Nickelodeon). We were tasked with making 3D versions of already existing 2D assets as well as creating new content for both versions of the game.

I was the main artist on this project. I made concepts for the new assets as well as the three new skins for the main character, made the 2D assets as well as animated some of them and modelled and textured the 3D models. Here is a sample of what I worked on.

Through this project, I learned how to use Spine to do the 2D animation as well as set the pipeline to send it to Unity (it was our studio's first project using this program). Implementing the new skins was a real challenge (the original whale used an old version of Spine that does not support well the skin system) but I managed to find a way to make them work efficiently.
