Puzzle Mayhem (Working Title)

Fall 2017-
Approx. 2 weeks of work

Puzzle Mayhem is a R&D project. I had been asked by a programmer to make art assets to fit his Columns puzzle game. A bit put off by his demands which were only practical and asked for no creativity, I decided to take it upon myself to conceptualize an interesting universe to fit his game in. This is where the idea of an international cooking contest where cooks would battle against each others began. The R&D weeks being relatively short, I only managed to squeeze in 4 character concepts and a tentative at UI. Sadly haven't found the time to make food-shaped blocks so I stuck in some basic placeholder gems.

The goal behind each character concept and story was to use funny stereotypes (avoiding anything harmful) about each country and its cuisine and weaponizing them. Even though they fight by cooking, I wanted them to look like ''fighters''.

Game screen- In a prefect world I would have made the cooking table reflect each player's cooking style.

Inspired by those images of Eastern Europe old ladies holding rifles and the unique relationship Russia has with its wildlife. I had started with the idea of Baba Yaga and only the chicken legs remained from the original idea.

Early character sketches- the final concepts don't differ much since I didn't have the time to iterate
